Artery Gear: Fusion
One of my guilty pleasures in life is Gacha-type games. I'm a long-time player of Summoners War. If you aren't familiar a Gacha time game is generally an RPG where you summon units. They are typically very pay-to-win which leads them to a niche market. Even though these games are pay-to-win they can offer a lot of fun casually playing without spending any money on them.
Artery Gear is a Gacha game focused on "Mecha Girls". Essentially mechanical girls which may be a downside for some players. All units you summon appear to be female, and very provocatively dressed. You take your position as the commander over a group of units. The tutorial will walk you through the basics of the game and is pretty well done if you are not familiar with these types of games. As of writing this you can reroll infinitely trying to get a 5-star unit. Once you stop rerolling you get that unit. I, however, did not do this and I really should of. Having a solid unit out of the gate would be very beneficial.
The core gameplay loop is very grindy. You will command your 4 units in battle. It's a turn-based RPG, and each unit will roughly have 3 skills. Some of which may be a passive skills. It's important to read your skills as with this game you can trigger additional effects. For instance, Shinobi can use her ultimate skill and if it kills the target she will attack again and hit all the enemy. You'll want to try and trigger these additional attacks as much as possible. Just like any other RPG you'll need to balance your team. While putting 4 glass cannons on a team may work for a bit, it may be best to have some support heroes or maybe even a tank in the mix.
There are multiple game modes to play. You'll have the standard campaign, PvP, and some event campaigns as well as boss fights and other farming methods. Since it is a mobile game there will be dailies to complete as well to help increase your progress. The campaign appears to be story rich. It's not going to be a Final Fantasy quality story, but there appears to be a lot of it. I personally skipped all of it as I am not a big story person, but if you enjoy stories in your games I think you'll be happy with this one.
On top of it being a Mecha girl game, it also has over-the-top anime effects. The combat looks absolutely fantastic. It's over the top and gorgeous. I love watching the animations for attacks. It really helps sell the game and I think this is one of the best aspects of the game. You can even change the background wallpaper for some different views than the standard menu. This game is 100% a Waifu collection simulator if that's your thing. If you're looking for men you will have to look at another game.
Like most Gacha Games rerolling is important. Rerolling is not saving your account or using some other function to restart over and over so your first summons gives you a specific unit. This really helps boost your progression through the game. I personally hate doing this so I never reroll, but if you want to min-max you should do this.
So far this Gacha game is shaping up to be my favorite one yet. The over-the-top combat is fantastic and I highly suggest trying this game out if you are into Gacha games. Let me know in the comments below if you like the game!
